I'm glad you're enjoying the system. It's one of those tools that gets you hooked somehow. I always like playing with it and seeing what's possible.

I have been looking and using Inform since 1996, and bought the first print pressing of the book. I then gave up on IF since things were clearly way to code writing oriented, and not story telling oriented. I have since rediscovered IF via Inform 7, the rewrite of the front end is amazing. Very well done, nicely polished, and I can't wait to start writing IF again. Thank you for the wonderful tip on the website redo as well. I'm checking it out now.

Hi James,

I saw the below post on macforumz which I assume was from you (the topics of your blogs certainly seem related!).

http://www.macforumz.info/setup-operation-your-mac/38671-ot-tv-licencing.html

I work in the press office for TV Licensing, and if we haven't got it quite right in your case, I'm happy to investigate and see what can be done. Perhaps you could provide me your contact details by email and I'll get someone to give you a call.

Adam Cadre's Varicella color scheme doesn't display properly in Zoom, either. It doesn't display completely properly in Spatterlight, either... but in Zoom, the black on grey parts are only black, so I can't see any text.

Bah, ignore the part about City of Secrets. It works flawlessly. However, I haven't noticed any problems with it in Spatterlight, so... don't really know what the issue is there.

Greetings, Mr. Jolley. I read your post on why you don't like Spatterlight, and it's a bit old, so I thought I'd post the comment here so that it would possibly be more visible to you. Because of this post, I took a look at Zoom again (the latest, 1.1.3), since it has been quite a while since I've used it. Perhaps I didn't give it enough of a try, but I do have some responses to your other post:

1. If Voiceover is your contention here, then I'd concede that. I don't use Voiceover myself, so it doesn't make much of a difference to me.

2. More formats is always better, especially since I couldn't even get City of Secrets to run on Zoom. I tried Tales of the Travelling Swordsman (HUGO, I believe), and the opening graphics and heading graphics didn't display at all. Perhaps I need more plugins? No idea, and I don't know where to get them.

3. Easy to use? So is Zoom, so this isn't really a point of contention.

Is it still being worked on? Zoom just got to 1.1.3 last month, and the last update before that was in 2007. Spatterlight's last update was in 2008, so yes, it's high time for one... but for a while there, it certainly looked like Zoom was dead, too. Give 'em a chance. Yes, the game management system is good, and I quite like it. I also highly enjoy the integration with IFDB. However, Zoom doesn't display certain games properly, and doesn't even play others (even a couple that you mentioned... how did you get City of Secrets running, anyway?). Metadata, such as reviews and info from Baf's Guide can't be imported and viewed in the information panel (which is something I quite like in Spatterlight). So... each has features that the other lacks, and it means I'm torn between them... but for now, Spatterlight seems the better candidate for my needs. I'll keep Zoom around just in case, though... :)
